Passport Control of the European Level

Ukraine has become one step closer to Europe. On January 19, at Boryspil Airport, the State Border Guard Service and representatives of Boryspil Airport have demonstrated the work of the modernized passport control automation system with biometric monitoring functions of the Gart-1/ENI («Gart -1/ЕНІ») subsystem, created by the specialists of the Bancomzvjazok Company's Department of Border Control Systems. The new system is being introduced as part of the implementation of the Action Plan for Visa Liberalization with the European Union. It allows passengers to pass passport control independently, without the participation of border guards.
At the moment, the complex operates in a test mode and is used only by Ukrainians arriving home from abroad. And the question of its application to the owners of biometric passports of foreign states is being studied. It is expected that the testing will last until April 30.
The complex of automation of border control consists of modern samples of turnstiles and kiosks for automated processing of data from passport documents, including those with embedded electronic chips. It also includes hardware and software for face recognition and fingerprinting, technical means to monitor the movement of passengers, and these are scanners, sensors, the system of blocking the intruder, facial recognition cameras, and the like. Passengers using the given system are serviced and monitored by only one serviceman who can simultaneously control up to 5 electronic gates.
